Presentated at the Theatre de la Sorbonne Nouvelle and Theatre de Chatillon
Paris, June 2026
Duration: 1 hour 20 minutes
Text: Marc Ravenhill (Play `Shoot/Get Treasure/Repeat)
War and Breakfast is a mosaic play composed of eight scenes that coexist within the same undefined time and space. Ensemble scenes and dialogue-driven scenes alternate to depict the spread of violence through the different layers of society. The play follows a variety of characters through whom the hypocrisy and denial of Western societies, interventionism, and the rise of fascism are critically examined.
The play highlights the mechanism of cyclical violence, fueled by intolerance and legitimized in the name of defending so-called fundamental values. Surveillance is installed; discourses, images, and bodies are controlled, and a process of desensitization takes hold.
